JOHN R. TATE

John R. Tate, is a 1970 graduate of the University of Georgia with a major in Entomology. He retired from the Virginia Department of Agriculture after 29 years where he worked with the Cotton Boll Weevil Eradication, Fire Ant, Ginseng, Beneficial Insects and Endangered Plants Species Programs. He has worked extensively on environmental assessments and has completed the U.S. Army Corps of engineers Wetland Delineation Training. He has a farm background and in Virginia was active in equestrian events; conducting and judging horse shows in addition to volunteering for county 4-H equestrian programs. Mr. Tate holds real estate licenses in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. After retiring John and his wife, Lenora, returned to Georgia in 2000. They have one daughter, Teresa, an accomplished equestrian, who chose to remain in Virginia. They also have one grandchild.
