Surveyed - Open Land - Private Easement
If home is where the heart is, look no further than Martin County to plant your roots and establish a place in the local Bear Grass community. This property has recently been surveyed into two single-acre lots and the owners have decided to sell it as a single 2-acre property so that there is no confusion on who is responsible for maintaining the access road. The owners also performed a perc test to see if the properties were buildable and it passed inspection for a 1000-gallon tank and private well. Unfortunately, a new perc test will have to be administered because the window of validity has expired.
As the listing agent, I can speak from experience on the character of the community of Bear Grass. I worked in the community for two years and learned very quickly about the character of its citizens, loving environment and humbling acceptance. If you are looking for small town life, an unmatched Cherries biscuit for breakfast and a shopping spree at the bustling town square (Dollar General) then you have found your place in Eastern North Carolina.
"Williamston is the county seat of Martin County, located in the northeastern Coastal Plain of North Carolina. The town's population is approximately 5,500 while the county's total population is about 24,500. The first settlers are said to have moved from Bertie County to the south side of the Roanoke River, located near the ruins of what was a Tuscarora Indian village. The locality was known to the Indians as "Squhawky," but it was called "Tar Landing" by the English settlers, as it gradually became the principal shipping point for tar, pitch, turpentine, and other forest products and meat produced in the section.”
