Buying land in South Dakota is a great choice for anyone with aspirations for becoming a business owner. The state is considered one of the most business-friendly environments in the United States. Experts feel that the reasons businesses thrive in South Dakota is because the state has a dedicated workforce who are both reliable and hardworking. The lack of taxes the state government charges also appeals to business owners, since they can take the money they would have paid in taxes and reinvest it in their business.

South Dakota Land for Sale

With the exception of the acres that have been set aside for National and State parks, the bulk of South Dakota's land is reserved for agriculture purposes. South Dakota is home to more than 31,000 farms or ranches with each operation averaging 1,397 acres in size. The most fertile farms are found on the east side of the state and are used to produce:

  • Soybeans
  • Sunflowers
  • Wheat
  • Flaxseed
  • Oats
  • Barley
  • Rye

While crops make up the biggest aspect of South Dakota's agriculture industry, farmers also raise cattle and hogs. Many of the livestock producers own enough land to also grow their own feed.
