Utah's Natural Wonders 

In the southern part of the state near Kanab, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is comprised of five zones from low-lying desert to its coniferous forest. The area is chalked full of natural cliffs, terraces, and plateaus, as well as unique rock formations such as the Toadstool Hoodoos.

Designated a National Monument in 1996, it originally contained 1,880,461 acres of protected federal land. In 2017, a proclamation was made reducing its overall size but retaining protection for the majority of its treasured landforms.
