High Vista

Welcome to High Vista, a breathtaking 160± acre sanctuary outside Nikiski, Alaska. This story began in the 1960s when High Vista, a boldly chosen coastal property, cut out of 10’s of thousands of acres of State land under the Homestead Act. The beauty of this land was evident. However, because of its remoteness, the property soon became dormant for several decades. Initial access was extremely challenging and prevented the legal right-of-way for unrestricted access.    Over the years, the property changed ownership, patiently awaiting its transformation into a versatile base to experience all Alaska has to offer. In 2016, the current landowner undertook a remarkable project, re-assembling the fragmented pieces of the original homestead from multiple landowners. A new right-of-way from the east was negotiated, and a high-quality gate was installed. Several miles of roads were built, and trails were carved through the wilderness. Today, an 800± foot gravel airstrip welcomes adventurers and seamlessly connects the property to the grid, ensuring modern comforts while maintaining a commitment to sustainability. High Vista offers an expansive panorama above Cook Inlet, treating you to views of snowcapped volcanoes and vast gravel and boulder beaches. The landscape is a natural masterpiece mosaic of Cottonwood trees, Black Spruce and Alder, wildflower meadows, berry patches, and lakes, creating a serene personal haven. At the pinnacle of High Vista, a charming cabin awaits, overlooking an entirely private and quiet lake, where ducks and loons come each summer to raise their young.  Fully equipped with underground 200 amp power, hot water, full bathroom, and quiet electric heat, it provides a cozy retreat. Another cabin, positioned near the airstrip, serves as a guest sleeping cabin. Unlike any other, High Vista offers freedom and flexibility.
