The Texas land market has remained one of the few bright spots in real estate. Prices have remained steady and in many areas continue to show increases. The decline in natural gas prices however has had an impact on the Texas economy and ranch and land prices. Even though natural gas prices have started to recover, oil & gas companies have scaled back gas exploration and leasing operations which in many areas was a big driving force in the land market.

Even with weak natural gas prices, the overall market for Texas farms, ranches and land remains strong. Many brokers are reporting that they are having difficulty keeping inventory available for the steady stream of buyers.
