Rooks County Cultivation and Grass

Location is what this piece has to offer. Located within 1 mile of Damar and 1/2 mile of a well maintained asphalt highway. This land has over 100 acres of cultivation and 30 acres of grass complimented with a timber filled draw on the northeast part. Wildlife such as pheasant, quail, deer, and turkey all are native species in this area. This long quarter lies only 6 miles southwest of Webster Lake State Park. Webster State Park is a 880-acre prairie setting of rolling hills and spacious skies. Visitors often see deer, turkeys, quail, pheasants, and many wildflowers. The 3,700 acres of open water offer great fishing in Webster Reservoir. The reservoir complements the picturesque Chalk Hills. The area’s mixed grass prairie, river, lake, marshes, and riparian trees and shrubs teem with wildlife. Located in the central flyway, the lake is a stopping place for many species of waterfowl and shorebirds and offers excellent opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts for hunting, wildlife watching and photography. Webster Wildlife Area encompasses 8,018 acres mostly surrounding the Solomon River west of the reservoir. A variety of wildlife habitats are developed and maintained to enhance wildlife. The lake is known for its quality walleye, crappie, white bass, and channel catfish. Agriculture Typical crops in this area are dryland corn, milo, wheat and soybeans.  The grass can be baled and used for livestock. Region & Climate Rooks County, KS has a temperate climate with warm summers and mild winters. Average summer temperatures range from the upper 70s to the mid-80s, while winter temperatures can dip as low as the teens. Precipitation is generally moderate throughout the year, with most of it coming between April and July.
