Blacktail Canyon Ranch

This magnificent 7100 acre in northeast Wyoming is a gateway to the Blackhills National Forest. The steep rolling hills under a canopy of pines offer travel corridors and protection for Elk, Deer and Turkey. Watered valleys combined with an extension pipeline fed by an artesian well offer year around water throughout the entire ranch. Several ponds surrounded by wetlands create habitat for waterfowl and upland birds. Improvements Nestled on the original homestead lies a 17,000 square foot lodge with an open floor plan, finishes are second to none.    Completed in 2007,  this lodge was hand crafted onsite from Red and Norway Pine.  Over 170 tons of moss rock were collected on the ranch and only the best was hand selected to be used in construction.    Amenities include large bedroom suites, grand great room, movie theater, safe/panic room, private office,  and dual saunas, all with custom woodwork finishes.

The original buildings were restored as historically as possible, preserving the character of the past while ensuring  existence for the next generation.   The large barn and corals can be recognized from the old Marlboro commercials.

To provide indoor storage, a new machine shed was built to complement the rustic buildings.

A second home onsite can be used for a caretaker or guests.

Recreation Known for its lush soil and grass production, this ranch has consistently produced large trophy Bull Elk for over 20 years.  Antelope,  Deer and Turkey hunting provide other opportunities along with waterfowl and upland birds.

Roads have been improved to offer access to nearly all of the 7100 acres.

Agriculture The lower elevation of Blacktail Canyon Ranch allows for a longer growing season for the native grasses.   Strict implementation of cattle grazing has been utilized to control the age of the grass while leaving abundant reserves for wildlife.

This property is also tied to a 640 acre state lease and a BLM lease.
