Description

Set on 72.23 acres east of the Laramie Mountains, Vista de la Luna, “View of the Moon” is a distinctive private estate near Vedauwoo and just east of Laramie. Originally designed for private living and boutique hospitality, the home now serves as a private residence while retaining exceptional flexibility for guests, entertaining, and future hospitality use. Land A sweeping drive approaches the residence through the open high-plains landscape. Stone accents, metal roofing, landscaped entry areas, and a contemporary architectural design give the home a distinctive presence against the surrounding Wyoming terrain. Native grasses cover the gently rolling terrain, creating a natural Wyoming landscape that rises and falls across the property and opens to broad views of the surrounding hills and granite formation

Improvements The 15,173 square feet residence is constructed using insulated concrete forms, the six-bedroom, seven-bath residence was built on a scale rarely found in southeastern Wyoming.

The interior centers around an expansive two-story great room with high wood ceilings, polished concrete floors, abundant natural light, an open upper-level gallery, and a dramatic 23-foot acoustic wall.

Five spacious guest suites each include a private bathroom and distinctive Wyoming-themed artwork commissioned from a local artist. The primary suite provides offers a warm, lodge-inspired retreat with a dramatic vaulted wood-plank ceiling and polished concrete floors. Generous proportions provide ample room for a full bedroom suite as well as comfortable sitting areas, creating a versatile private living space, while a freestanding wood stove adds warmth and rustic character.

The kitchen features custom cabinetry, a substantial center island, bar seating, and adjoining café-style dining space. Additional areas include multiple sitting and gathering spaces, an upstairs breakfast or beverage bar, theatre room, exercise area, office, craft or studio space, workshop, and substantial storage.

Radiant heat, pellet fireplaces, an attached four-car garage, and an upper-level outdoor terrace add to the home’s functionality.  Furnishings, bedding, and supplies are included in the sale, offering added convenience for either continued private use or a future hospitality operation.

Whether maintained as a substantial private residence, used as a multigenerational retreat, or considered for future hospitality use, Vista de la Luna offers an unusual combination of scale, acreage, accessibility, and proximity to Vedauwoo, Ames Monument, public lands, and Laramie.

Recreation At approximately 8,320 feet in elevation, Vista de la Luna occupies an open setting surrounded by broad views of the Laramie Mountains, high plains, and nearby granite formations.

Nearby Vedauwoo Recreation Area is defined by dramatic granite formations, pine-covered hills, and open mountain meadows, creating one of southeastern Wyoming’s most recognizable landscapes and offering exceptional opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, cross-country skiing, and year-round recreation.

The historic Ames Monument is also approximately one mile from the property. The 60-foot granite pyramid, now a National Historic Landmark, was constructed in the early 1880s near the highest point of the original transcontinental railroad and is one of southeastern Wyoming’s most recognizable historic sites.

Public land borders the property along the north and west sides, further enhancing its connection to the surrounding landscape. Patios, an upper-level terrace, landscaped areas, and outdoor gathering space provide additional opportunities to enjoy the setting.

General Operations Vista de la Luna was formerly operated as a seasonal bed-and-breakfast and also accommodated weddings, business gatherings, concerts, retreats, and family events.

The property’s five private guest suites, expansive common areas, kitchen and dining facilities, outdoor gathering areas, and convenient access to Laramie and Interstate 80 provide an established foundation for a future owner interested in renewed hospitality use.

Bed-and-breakfast operations are contemplated within Albany County zoning regulations,  Any future commercial, lodging, or event use should be independently confirmed with Albany County Planning and Zoning.

Region & Climate Located in the Laramie Mountains of southeastern Wyoming, the area is characterized by rolling native grasslands, granite outcroppings, pine-covered ridges, and expansive high-country views. The high-elevation climate brings mild summer days and cool nights, low humidity, snowy winters, abundant sunshine, and four distinct seasons.

History The area has a rich history shaped by Native American use, westward expansion, and the arrival of the Union Pacific Railroad in the 1860s. Nearby Ames Monument marks the highest point along the original transcontinental railroad route, while the surrounding Vedauwoo and Sherman Hills remain closely tied to southeastern Wyoming’s early transportation and settlement history.

The proposed Rail Tie Wind Project is located southwest of the property along the Highway 287/Tie Siding corridor and is planned for private and state lands in southern Albany County. In June 2026, Albany County approved a five-year extension of the project’s Wind Energy Conversion System permit. Vista de la Luna is not located within the Rail Tie Wind Project.

Location Located approximately 15 minutes from Laramie and the University of Wyoming, the property combines considerable privacy with convenient regional access. Interstate 80 is less than a mile away, with Cheyenne approximately 35 minutes to the east and Fort Collins, Colorado, about an hour south.
