Agriculture in Illinois
Illinois is an agricultural state with 75,000 farms covering more than 75 percent of the state's total land area. These farms produce soybeans, corn, hogs, cattle, and dairy products. The little towns along the rivers have historic attractions and newer activities such as wine tasting and riverboat casinos. Its state parks, scattered across the state, offer opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of Illinois. Starved Rock State Park is a favorite, just three hours from Chicago with lush waterfalls, miles of hiking trails, rock bluffs, riverboat tours, and an abundance of birds and other wildlife. There is a large abundance of IL hunting land.
