Explore the Lands of Utah
From the beauty of Utah's natural landscapes to unique man-made land art, Utah is filled with an abundance of sites to be seen. With its nearly 85 million square miles of land there's a lot of remote and developed territory alike, some government-owned, some privately owned. Here's what is offered for people looking to buy land for sale in Utah.
Utah's Natural Wonders
In the southern part of the state near Kanab, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is comprised of five zones from low-lying desert to its coniferous forest. The area is chalked full of natural cliffs, terraces, and plateaus, as well as unique rock formations such as the Toadstool Hoodoos.
Designated a National Monument in 1996, it originally contained 1,880,461 acres of protected federal land. In 2017, a proclamation was made reducing its overall size but retaining protection for the majority of its treasured landforms. It is not the only attraction that draws people looking for land for sale in Utah. Land Broker Co-op can guide you to all of the favorite spots.
North of Moab, Arches National Park contains more than 2,000 naturally-created sandstone arches including Delicate Arch with its rich red hue to the east, and Landscape Arch in Devils Garden, which lure in more than one million visitors each year. Balanced Rock is another geographical wonder which towers over the park's desert landscape in the center of the park.
The area near Monument Valley also is popular with people looking for property for sale in Utah. As the name implies, the area is also well-known for its picturesque land formations rising from the red desert floor. Located along Utah's border with Arizona near "Four Corners," it's famous for its Western movie locations. If you’re in that part of the state looking for land for sale in Utah, the best views of the Valley are said to be while driving along Highway 163 on the Utah side of the park.
Man-made Land Art
As if the natural-made artwork of the state isn't enough, some landscape artists have taken it upon themselves to create more. In 1970, Robert Smithson underwent a huge art project on the Great Salt Lake. He developed a 1,500' long by 15' wide spiral coil out of basalt rock and named it Spiral Jelly. To see it in full during your visit looking at property for sale in Utah you'll have to time your visit to when the water level is low at its Rozel Point location.
Artist Nancy Holt completed development of her own landscape art close to the Utah-Nevada border in 1976. The Sun Tunnels are four 22-ton concrete tunnels laid out in an "X." It is another of the splendid features that call to those shopping for land for sale in Utah. Each tunnel represents one of four constellations, Draco, Perseus, Columbia, and Capricorn, with holes drilled through the concrete to match the constellations in the night sky. Sun Tunnels is located in a secluded area of the Salt Lake Basin, to the West of the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Private Land Available
Despite the millions of acres dedicated to the country's National Parks and lands, there’s plenty of property for sale in Utah. Land Broker Co-Op can point the way. There's a lot of private land for sale in Utah.. Nancy Holt purchased 40 acres to develop her art project back in the '70s. Whether you are looking for the right property to engulf yourself in a landscape art project, to enjoy the natural art of the state's glorious landscape, for recreational purposes, or economic ones, Utah has a lot to offer.
There's a lot of grazing land available with cattle comprising more than 78% of Utah's agricultural commodities. If you have an interest in starting your own herd as a second or even primary income, or as a retirement project, look for land for sale in Utah neighboring Bureau of Land Management land where you can obtain lease rights for grazing on the property.
Hogs, chickens, turkeys, and eggs round out the majority of livestock raised here. If you are more inclined to farm than ranch, Utah's top cash crop is hay. Some farmers diversify in growing hay for their own livestock needs.
Hunting property for sale in Utah too, where you can build your own cabin or find property already equipped with one. Some species actively hunted include grouse, wild turkeys, pheasant, ducks, rabbits, mule deer, and antelope.
