Vacant Land in Merritt

Outstanding recreational opportunity just outside of Merritt! This 64-acre property offers frontage on M-55 / Houghton Lake Road along with a diverse mix of habitat including cedar thickets, birch and oak timber, lowland swamp, cattails, autumn olive, and areas of higher, drier ground. A small spring-fed creek also winds through the property, adding another attractive feature for wildlife. The varied terrain and cover create excellent habitat for deer, turkey, and other Michigan game. Some of the property's nicest higher and drier ground is located toward the back of the parcel. The current owner has started an ATV trail from the road that extends partway into the property, but additional trail work will be needed to provide ATV access all the way to the rear. The back portion is currently accessible on foot for those looking to explore the property in its entirety. Located just down the road from Merritt, approximately 10 minutes from Houghton Lake and 15 minutes from Lake City, this is a strong Northern Michigan recreational property with plenty of potential for hunting, trail development, and a private getaway.
