Aspen, spruce, and fir forests dominate the higher elevations, while meadows and Gambel oak groves characterize the lower terrain. Several springs and small creeks provide reliable water throughout the property. With its diverse habitat, varied topography, and abundant water, the ranch offers exceptional wildlife conditions. Elk, mule deer, black bear, and turkey thrive here, making Sentinel Peaks a paradise for both hunters and wildlife enthusiasts. The elk habitat is so remarkable that the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has secured a conservation easement on approximately 1,300 acres of the property. While encumbering only a portion of the ranch, the conservation easement allows for continued recreational and agricultural uses and ensures the long-term preservation of high-quality wildlife herds. Elk, bear, mule deer, and turkey hunting are outstanding on both the ranch and the adjacent National Forest and Wilderness Area. Multiple access points and an extensive internal road network provide easy access to prime hunting areas.
