Autumn Rock

Autumn Rock is more than a home—it’s a story written into the landscape of Colorado’s high country. Its name comes from a cherished quilt, sold to help secure the land, a symbol of commitment to a place that feels as timeless as the mountains themselves. Framed by the sacred peaks of East Peak, Blanca, and Greenhorn, this retreat holds 39.6± private acres seamlessly connected to over 4,000± acres of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. Here, a resident elk herd of several hundred roams freely, and the wild calls just beyond your door.

Inside the 3,857± square-foot residence, four bedrooms and three baths are united by thoughtful craftsmanship. Hand-troweled Tuscan-finished walls catch the changing light, while massive Douglas fir hammer-beam trusses draw the eye upward in the family room. A rustic stone wood-burning fireplace anchors the space, crowned by a custom chandelier fashioned from an antique pulley.

Every detail tells a story. Civil War–era American chestnut cabinet doors bear marks from long-ago bullets. Wainscoting was salvaged from a historic La Veta dance hall. A 135-year-old Egyptian market door adds a note of the unexpected, bridging worlds and centuries. Even the home’s systems—tucked into a walkable crawlspace—reflect forethought, from a whole-house filtration system to an efficient propane boiler.
