Circle RG Ranch

Holding roughly 700 feet of the upper Big Lost River, the property gives anglers a shot at the Lost River Slam: seven wild species in a day. Both banks of that stretch are deeded. Nielsen Ditch leaves the river above the ranch and rejoins it below, putting the home and shop on island ground with moving water on either side.

Bureau of Land Management (BLM) borders the north and east boundaries and runs back to the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The cottonwood bottoms along the river hold moose year-round, and seeing them is routine rather than an event. Unit 50 is managed for high-quality elk, with mule deer, pronghorn, and a few whitetail.

The 63± deeded acres lie north of Mackay in Idaho’s Lost River Valley. The house sits among mature cottonwoods on the west end, private and enclosed, with Borah Peak showing from the loft above the great room. Walk east, and the canopy ends.

From the open acreage around the guest cabin, the entire front of the Lost River Range stands across the valley, the range that holds seven of Idaho’s nine peaks above 12,000 feet. A heated shop and the guest cabin back the residence.

Private trails wind through the wooded acreage for riding, hiking, and UTV travel, and fenced pasture and corrals have carried cattle and horses. A rifle range, a pistol range with a small building for year-round shooting, and a trap field stay with the sale. Access is year-round, with Mackay 21± miles south. From late May to mid-November, Trail Creek Road opens the back way to Sun Valley, 33± miles over one of the most scenic passes in Idaho.
