Lake Ridge

Once part of the historic Bighorn Mountain Ranch, Lake Ridge is now being offered as a 640 acre stand alone parcel. This end of the road property is surrounded by BLM on the North and South. A tributary of McNay Creek bisects the north property line in the valley. A historic cabin still stands battling the test of time, built next to an artesian spring.. Tall grass thrives as this property has been carefully managed to promote the health of the resident elk herd.  Deep steep canyons surround the ranch on the north and south allowing wildlife to feel safe and travel freely while keeping  human traffic to a minimum.  The ridge down the center of Lake Ridge is a mecca for wildlife.   It is not uncommon to see the elk herd number over 2000 head as they head back to the timber at daylight.   Slight elevation changes on the ridge provide hiding places in what seems to be flat ground.  Deep canyons border this ranch.

The historic name “Lake Ridge” comes from the abundance of natural springs flowing on the west facing slopes.  This natural oasis at such a high elevation  is a rare feature.

Recreation Through decades of conservation, this ranch now offers world class elk hunting.  The herd is healthy and the breeding bulls are mature.  For the select hunter, this one has it all.   Upland birds, antelope and mule deer also call this ranch home.  Sage grouse, checkers, Hungarian partridge, ruffs and blues are all abundant and thriving.
